Football, falling leaves, and big boy bikes

Our Saturday's lately have looked like this: buy pizza, watch Stanford football, repeat.

Lovely to see my guy in his happy place.

Costco deep dish. it's what's up.
Weekends are also for teaching our little human beings how to ride bikes.
And jumping in leaf piles. Clearly.

Sorry for all the grainy cellphone photos, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!

Happy Fall.

Gilbert House

A few weeks ago, the kids and I headed down to Salem to run around A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village.
After a 40min drive down, we started our visit by running all the sillies out in the epic outdoor play space.

The man who once lived in and among these homes (there are quite a few on the property, one being his uncles and another the old town parish, all of which now house museum exhibits for children) was the original creator of the Erector Set, so there is giant, 52 feet model for kids to climb. Here's the few from inside, looking down on all the outdoor fun to be had! (tons.)

The main houses are so cheerily painted! And as soon as the sky started sprinkling heaven's teardrops, we skee-daddled inside of them! The first place we ventured was the grocery.

We then ventured to the kiddie vet clinic where Kiel very much enjoyed practicing medicine on the animals, with the assistance of his esteemed colleague.

Then, it was time for lunch. We grabbed ours from the van and went for a walk next to the Willamette River.

We settled on this bench for a bit, in view of the village, to take a quick breather from all the fun.

We spied a foot bridge and walked across.

Once we had our taquitos and carrots safely tucked away in our bellies, we set off to do some more exploring. Next up, the light room.

...and the Chinese room, where painting with water on chalk captured them for quite awhile.

We had a little tea party and then went home! Convenient that the highway went right over this little treasure...
What adventures have you been pursuing? We want to hear about 'em!
