Life's a beach

What better way to celebrate a national holiday (MLK Day as the case may be) than to go find a lighthouse on the Oregon Coast? We found this beaut out near Devil's Punch Bowl (now isn't that fun to say?!?) and proceeded to be mesmerized by the warm day and the gently roaring waves.

We ended the day at this beach...

Can you spy the lighthouse on the bluff?

Too cool.

Anniversary Part 2

On Christmas Day, after a quick bite of bacon and swig of smoothie, we quickly packed up and got on the road to Washington. We arrived at my fathin-in-law's home in Woodinville, and spent time cozied up by the fire while Kiel busied himself with all the fun toys left there by numerous cousins. Matt's sisters, Lindsey and Janna, and our new Bro-in-law, Andrew, soon stopped by and we ran out to see the horses before we lost all the daylight.

We then went back to the house and our boy could not resist being outside for as long as possible.

We could only stay out in the cold for so long (and there would be many more opportunities to play), so we discarded our gloves and hats to cozy up by the fire, where laughter, games, and merriment were in full supply until the wee hours of the 26th. I awoke on Boxing Day with the knowledge that I would soon be at one of my favorite places, Willows Lodge, and check-in time could not come soon enough!! But it came, and went, all too quickly...

The staff is incredible at Willows. All they need is the teeniest hintt of a special occasion and you will be extravagantly rewarded. We found these yummy treats and a hand-written note from the management when we arrived, and couldn't resist enjoying these refreshments while soaking in the two-person tub.
We had such a relaxing and invigorating time together. This tradition is certainly one I hope we keep for many, many, many, many, (like 60+ would be good) years.

Do you have a favorite place in all the world? I want to hear about your happy place!
