roses + voodoo

We went back! Matt and I couldn't shake the feeling that we needed to return and see the International Rose Test Garden (long name, but we can't have you thinking we're going to see a game at the Rose Garden sports arena, now can we?), so when we had a date day scheduled, we made this our first stop. Ta-da!

Matt's artistic side came out, and he got some really great shots of the last roses of the season!

And I couldn't resist getting a shot of the photographer at work... ;)

After an hour of luxurious roaming, we sauntered back to the car and drove the 1.4 miles to the city center for some grub. We found the parking spot of the century right in front of Voodoo Doughnut in Old Town. I got in line (Yes, the line. that we stood in for 40 minutes. Yes, 40 minutes. And yes, totally worth it), while my handsome date got us some real food from a BBQ cart nearby.

I got a lemony one (not pictured) and the signature Voodoo guy (filled with raspberry goo and stabbed with a pretzel) while Matt got a Mango Tango and something that was covered in chocolate and peanuts and peanut butter. We also got a fruit loop one to take home for the Kielster. He's eating it right now and sharing little o's with his sis. What a good brother. Matt and I ate ours on picnic tables in the sunshine. Heavenly!

And lest we forget to keep portland weird like good Porlanders in Portlandia, there was a casual reminder across the street...

Hugs from Portland,

m
